Abira Medical Laboratories, LLC, operating as Genesis Diagnostics, and Alan J. Miller have filed a lawsuit against three former associates, accusing them of fraudulent activities that led to significant legal and financial troubles for the plaintiffs. The complaint was lodged in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey on December 3, 2025, targeting Michael J. Harper, Jason R. Gadreault, and Natalie M. Skochinsky.
The case revolves around alleged breaches of sales and marketing agreements by the defendants, which were purportedly rooted in illegal and fraudulent conduct. According to the plaintiffs, these actions resulted in a criminal indictment against them in Florida back in December 2019—a case that was eventually dismissed in 2025. Genesis Diagnostics claims that Harper and Gadreault were involved in unlawful patient-brokering activities under Florida’s Patient Brokering Act while working as independent contractors for Genesis. The defendants allegedly misled Genesis about their business practices, including paying kickbacks to secure business from long-term care facilities known as Sober Homes.
Furthermore, Skochinsky is accused of failing to disclose her personal relationship with Harper and aiding him in his illegal activities while serving as vice-president of financial operations at Genesis. The plaintiffs argue that her false statements contributed to the criminal charges they faced.
Genesis Diagnostics seeks compensatory damages for breach of contract, commercial disparagement, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and unjust enrichment. They also demand rescission of contracts with Harper and Gadreault and seek punitive damages along with attorney’s fees.
The legal team representing Abira Medical Laboratories includes Afiyfa Ellington Esq., while the case is presided over by Judge GC-JTQ under Case ID 3:25-cv-18152-GC-JTQ.
