An Old Bridge, New Jersey man was arrested and charged with multiple child pornography offenses, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced on Apr. 3.

Daniel Berwick, 38, faces two counts of producing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Rukhsanah L. Singh in Trenton federal court and was detained pending further proceedings.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Berwick allegedly persuaded two minors to send him explicit photos and videos through Snapchat during August and September 2025. Authorities say he posed as a 17-year-old high school student by using images from an adult content creator to deceive the victims. Law enforcement began investigating after one victim reported that Berwick threatened to share compromising images with her family and school officials via Snapchat.

A search of Berwick’s electronic devices reportedly uncovered at least 1,000 images of child pornography, including material involving prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, infants or toddlers being abused or exploited, and depictions of sadistic or masochistic acts.

The charges for production of child pornography each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment up to a maximum of 30 years imprisonment, along with fines up to $250,000. The possession charge carries a maximum term of 20 years due to the involvement of prepubescent minors in the materials found.

U.S. Attorney Frazer credited special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Special Agent Stefanie Roddy for leading the investigation. He also thanked Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera’s office and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas J. Montagna for their assistance.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006—to combat child sexual exploitation by coordinating resources across federal, state, and local agencies (more information at https://www.justice.gov/psc).

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Garelick is representing the government in this case; defense counsel is Robert C. Scrivo from Mandelbaum Barrett PC.

Officials emphasize that all charges are accusations only; Berwick is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
