In a recent court filing, Cathy Jo Thomson and Donald Fred Thomson have initiated a class action lawsuit against Volvo Car North America, LLC and Volvo Car USA, LLC. The plaintiffs allege that certain models of Volvo vehicles, specifically the 2022-2024 XC40 and C40, possess dangerous defects. These defects include issues with the Rear Auto Brake (RAB) system and the Dashboard Drive Display (DD), which reportedly pose significant safety risks to drivers. The RAB system is said to engage spontaneously, causing violent stops that can lead to injury, while the DD system experiences blackouts that impair driving abilities. Despite being aware of these issues since 2021, Volvo has allegedly failed to address or rectify them adequately. The lawsuit seeks damages for affected consumers who purchased or leased these defective vehicles.
