A Camden County man has admitted to conspiring to distribute over 5 kilograms of cocaine and possessing a firearm, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.
Rasheed Amin, 46, from Voorhees, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn. He was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents reveal that throughout 2024, Amin traveled from Philadelphia to various cities in the western United States to acquire cocaine for distribution. He then mailed parcels containing the drug to his residence in Voorhees and other locations across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. On October 29, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Amin’s home and found several kilograms of cocaine along with a loaded firearm. Amin admitted possession of both the drugs and the weapon.
The charge related to cocaine distribution carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and could result in life imprisonment plus a $10 million fine. The firearm possession charge carries up to 15 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for November 13, 2025.
U.S. Attorney Habba acknowledged the efforts of inspectors and task force officers from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Philadelphia Division under Inspector in Charge Christopher Nielsen for their role in securing the guilty plea. She also recognized contributions from Homeland Security Investigations Newark led by Special Agent Ricky J. Patel; Camden County Police Department under Chief Gabriel Rodriguez; and Cherry Hill Police Department under Chief John Ostermueller.
